Director of Investments and Founding Partner

Scot Millen co-founded Brightworks Wealth Management to make investing more personal and easier to understand. After years in institutional banking, where the work was challenging but often far from clients' everyday lives, he wanted to help individuals, families, businesses, and nonprofits turn their financial goals into real, lasting results.

With more than 25 years of experience, Scot oversees a disciplined investment approach designed to help clients grow their assets and protect what matters most. He combines the structure and insight gained from Fortune 500 investment work with the personal attention and flexibility of an independent firm. Whether helping families plan for the future, guiding business owners on their investment strategies, or supporting foundations, Scot brings curiosity, focus, and care to every relationship.

Earlier in his career, Scot served as Vice President in M&T Bank’s Investment Group, where he led mutual fund mergers, worked with institutional managers, and contributed to fund design and research. He also directed Cooperative Business International’s Prague office, managing trade ventures across Central Europe and gaining a broad global perspective.

Scot earned his degree in economics from Ohio University and an MBA in finance from SUNY Buffalo. He holds the Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®) designation and has been quoted in The New York Times, Newsweek.com, The Washington Examiner, and Investment News.

In his free time, Scot enjoys kayaking, camping and spending time with family.
